This can't be real. The thought echoed through his mind, but the dream, hallucination, wish, was too real for Alec to deny. There were too many details that were right. Max's smile and his little brother sounding so happy to see him. His heart broke at that. By the Angel, he couldn't remember the last time Max had seemed so happy to see him. That had been almost as great a regret as his choice resulting in Max's death.
No matter how afraid he was to believe what was in front of him, he couldn't let his brother notice anything except how happy Alec was to see him. Kneeling down, he smiled at Max. "Yeah, I am. I remember you too, Max, but my memory's been fuzzy for a few weeks so I wasn't sure if it really was you."
