They certainly weren't going to get over decades of history in one day and Cal hardly expected it. At least they were pretending to be polite, which was more than he could say he'd hoped for. It was a start, if nothing else, and maybe, eventually, it would turn to actual civility. He wasn't stupid enough to believe they'd ever be friends again. But he could live with some kind of rudimentary understanding, if they could ever forge one. That might be too much to hope for, too.

He ust be so very moved by the cause of the humans here. Cal may not have hated them as much as he had in the less-than-golden days of his youth, but surely there were more important things to worry about than strangers' schoolchildren.
