"You've been acting like you are." At least Alec assumed that was what was wrong. Jace normally hid his emotions but over the years he'd been more open with him. Hiding a smile when Jace took the food back, he considered how to phrase things since they were in public. Actually, it wouldn't be too difficult. His parents were still furious with him over Magnus.

"Maryse and Robert aren't happy about having a gay son. I doubt they really want me around anymore." The words sounded harsher than he expected, causing him to wince. "Sorry. I've been trying to keep you and Izzy out of it." But he must not have done a good job of it since they both had moved to be with him.

"I know, but you're usually not this grumpy. Or rude around Mundanes." They'd all grown up, pushing aside their parents elitism. "They're just different than what we're used to."
