"Friendly like a stray cat," Alec muttered, sounding fond even if he was confused by the conflicting messages Jace kept sending. Half the time he acted like he couldn't stand the thought of having Alec out of his sight. The other he acted like he couldn't wait to get away from him. He was used to the grumpy, prickly personality but Jace hadn't attempted to push him away since they were kids.

Taking the smoothie, he rolled his eyes when he realized that there wasn't anything left. When they passed a trash can, he tossed the cup. "You're always so generous." Glancing over at Jace, he considered their usual methods for dealing with Jace's moods. "We could try some one on one dodge ball. Throwing things should cheer you up."
