The Breach is a tear in the Veil - which I imagine is, or is like, your Weave. This has opened up a location called the Fade - another realm, one which mages tap into in order to access their magic - allowing demons access to our world, among other things.

[ there's no telling what effects such a thing could have on their reality, with Alexius finally finalising that time travel spell and mages specialising in the use of the Breach and its Rifts to call forth new abilities. ]

I've no proof, so far, but it is entirely possible that the tears in the Veil are linked to whatever has landed us here.
