FASHION MEME

what are you wearing?
That's right, it's time fooooor: A FASHION MEME. Since our characters are all trapped in a small town in the 90s: what are they wearing? Are they trying to keep their look as true to canon as possible, or are they embracing a more period-appropriate look? HAS ANYONE GOTTEN THE RACHEL YET? Go ahead and post what your characters are wearing, whether through pics or polyvore links or written descriptions.

So, he probably stands out a bit from the locals, looking like a fancyman in the middle of small town Idaho. He'll almost always be seen wearing at least a fitted, patterned dress shirt and a differently-patterned scarf, and dark, tailored trousers. Beyond that, he's usually got on a waistcoat and either a suit jacket or a long overcoat. Most of the time, he wears dark colors with a splash of color (usually the scarf). And he pretty much always wears a couple of tacky looking rings.
BEAUTIFUL PATTERNS
BEAUTIFUL WAISTCOAT
BEAUTIFUL OVERCOAT
etc etc
lbr he's probably been dressing like this since the Dark Curse dumped him into the 80s, anyway. HE HASN'T CHANGED HIS STYLE IN 28 YEARS, AND HE'S NOT CHANGING NOW.

Malia's fashion choices within canon have lined up to make for no discernible order, which is pretty accurate for a girl who has no reason to be connected to the fashion world; she throws together whatever the hell she wants, that feels comfy. All these plaid shirts and flannel are the da bomb! She doesn't really care what she wears, as long as she's not too cold, so she'll be in jeans and layering as much as she can during cooler months.
Here is a sampling of some of the stuff she's found and will find to buy: AT LEAST THE CLOTHES HERE ARE GR8!

So, it's basically a lot of flannel, a lot of denim-- sometimes ripped, even though that's a fashion choice he doesn't quite get-- and a lot of tees and 3/4 sleeve shirts. And when he's working, he's wearing a mechanic's shirt, usually over a long-sleeved thermal shirt or a henley. And more jeans. JEANS 24/7.
A HANDY VISUAL AID (insert cool robot arm over that left one):
(yeah I could link to actual 90s fashion, BUT WHY BOTHER WHEN HE'S BASICALLY ALREADY DRESSED THE WAY BUCKY IS IN GAME)
Oh and he does try to keep the robot arm covered as much as possible by wearing long sleeves and a glove whenever possible. But it's not always possible to keep it hidden.
AND I just decided that his closet is full of t-shirts with bands and references he largely doesn't understand. A LOT OF 80s STUFF. He definitely has an ironic D.A.R.E shirt that he doesn't get the point of.

right??? i'm terrified what this place is going to do to his wardrobe. Let's pray he goes the DIY punk route.
the icon is a lie
STEVE'S STYLE IS PRETTY TIMELESS he basically updated it from the 1940s to the 2010s by unbuttoning his button-downs and adding in some jeans. And not parting his hair. Much. So it's pretty much gonna be button-downs over t-shirts, khakis or jeans and boots all the way. When it's nippy he'll wear a leather or other relatively lightweight jacket, and when it's freezing he'll wear a
block of icesimple sweater.Look, he already updated his look once, he's gonna be stubborn about doing it again. But a couple concessions to the 90s will happen without him meaning to: 1) his sweaters will be bulky dad sweaters and 2) Tommy Hilfiger.

Emily's from the space equivalent of a crappy town in the Midwest. She's gonna fit right in.

Allison's style tends towards denim skirts or high waisted shorts with funky tights underneath when it's colder outside. She wears jeans when she knows she needs to be out in the woods for long periods of time. Cute, floral dresses paired with combat boots are also probably a staple of her wardrobe, and, yes, she also wears the velvet chokers with them sometimes. She's a big fan of chunky, oversized sweaters, but she has a few form fitting ones as well!
She did bring clothes from home, specifically this outfit and this outfit. Allison also has her security gear from her days working SEC on the spaceship Tranquility, which is standard black tactical suit wear.

It was meant to be.
Expect high-waisted jeans paired with bustiers, ruffly blouses for work, or chunky knits. Expect bra-revealing sheers, and boobiful necklines.
She'll also be apt to do a bit of the good old 90s mix and match, things like short a-line skirts and (again, sheer) lacy tops paired with a black leather jacket and doc martens, or the leather pants she arrived with with a plain tee and a flannel shirt. And chokers. Lots of chokers. No scrunchies though, Trace.

Lots of flannel worn in every way possible (around the waist, over a shirt, under a shirt, you name it.). Doc Martens or Chuck Taylor's with everything. Ripped jeans (possible cause of said rips? Wear and tear, skateboard incident, the fact that they're probably a size too small. All of the above.) in every shade of denim. Jean jackets with a stupid amount of patches, leather jackets possibly with a stupid amount of studs, more layers than a sidekick on a Disney Channel sitcom. Typical obscure band t-shirts and sweatshirts, most of which are sizes too big, or too small.
What can I say? It was the 90's fashion was interesting

But if she's having a pretty decent time, she may even try ponytails and large sunglasses. No hats tho. Also generally more muted and darker colors.
